Education Credential Assessment: World Education Services (WES)

Here is the list of ECA outcomes which we are aware that are supported by ECA reports:

1. World Education Services (WES):

WES is a popular assessing authority of Canada for calculation of the educational documents of the aspirants in which over 2,500 universities, Institutes, colleges, government bodies are assessed, and their educational stature is judged against the educational parameters of Canada. The year 2020 started with pertinent news with respect to ECA done from WES, the cost for evaluation under WES increased to 220 $CAD from 1st Jan 2019. An ECA that is done through WES has a validity of five years from the date of issue of the report. Hence, the same report can be used by the candidate while re-submission of the express entry profile when the candidate is not selected for immigration the first time.

Their phone is only accessible from within Canada and they do not attend walk-in customers. They do not provide an email and must be contacted electronically by filling out the appropriate online forms at their website and by mail when you, or your educational institute, mail them the application packages with the appropriate documentation or the official documents. They have a 3-step application procedure:

1.       Complete the online application form by going here. You will receive a reference number which you must keep.

2.       Review the document requirements for your country of education. For example, for those educated in the Philippines, and if you attended a higher education institute, you will need:

o    An Academic Transcript listing all the courses taken and grades earned for each year of study. If you attended more than 1 institute the last institute attended must send the transcript.

o    If you have a doctoral degree, you will need an official letter confirming the awarding of your PhD.

3.       Download and print an Academic Records Request Form and if necessary a Doctoral Degree Conferral Request Form and send them to your educational institute in order for them to send the transcript directly to WES. Remember not to send original documents unless specifically requested by WES.

4.       WES will process your application and send you an electronic ECA report for you to send to IRCC. You will also receive electronic storage of your report and verified transcripts for future use. Upon payment of delivery fees, you may also receive a paper report. a) Bachelors – Usually evaluated as Bachelors only

b) MBA – Apart from PGDM from IIM and IIT, all other Indian Universities MBA are assessed as Post Graduate Diploma of one year (Since June 2018)

c) M.Tech/MCA/M.E/M.Ed – Evaluated as Masters

d) M. Sc/M. Com/M.A – Evaluated as either Post Graduate diploma or Bachelors

e) BDS/MDS – Evaluated as professional degree

f) B.Pharm/M. Pharm – Evaluated as Bachelors and PGD/Bachelors respectively

g) B.Com/B.A followed by LLB – Evaluated as Professional degree

Timelines: 35 days from the day all the documents are accepted and be mindful about secondary which may take forever depends upon the university’s response
